| Course Objectives | To understand the importance of healthy maternal and child nutrition; to identify the physiological, metabolic, and endocrine changes during pregnancy and lactation and their interactions with nutrition; to identify the physiological and metabolic changes in infants, preschool- and school-age children, and adolescents and their interactions with nutrition; to determine energy and nutrient requirements; to learn the principles of adequate and balanced nutrition; and to interpret nutrition education and practices in clinical and community settings and incorporate them into practice. |

| Course Description | This course addresses the importance of maternal and child nutrition in Türkiye and worldwide, physiological changes, nutritional requirements, and nutritional problems during pregnancy and lactation. It examines growth and development characteristics, energy and nutrient requirements, and principles of healthy nutrition during infancy, preschool, school-age, and adolescence. Breast milk, complementary feeding, infant formulas, nutrition-related problems and dietary treatment in children and adolescents, and anthropometric methods used to monitor growth and development are also covered. |
